You finally get a break—then this hits you

Hey Reader!

Saturday morning. No alarm. No plans. Nothing urgent.
And yet... I was edgy. Unsettled. Like my skin didn’t fit.

I reached for my phone, instinctively.
Nothing new. Turned it off again.
Still itchy. Still restless.

It’s been happening a lot lately — that subtle hum beneath the surface.
Not full-blown anxiety. Just a low-grade discomfort I can't explain or shake.

I used to soothe it with busyness.
Distractions. Deadlines. Doing.
Now, even those aren’t working.

And here’s the uncomfortable truth:
When life got quieter, I finally paid attention to what I’d been trying not to feel.

I wrote about that moment — the fidgety, in-between space that most of us rush to escape — and what it might be trying to show us.

Even if you don’t read the whole thing, maybe this will land:
Maybe restlessness isn’t a sign that something’s wrong.
Maybe it’s a signal that something new is trying to emerge — and we have to sit still long enough to notice.

I've spent my life figuring out how to break free from invisible rules. You know those voices that whisper "people like me don't do that"? My creative process ignores conventional rules because I follow what wants to emerge, not what I'm "supposed" to do. This same approach works for everything else in life. I believe most of what we think is "real" or "true" simply isn't.The Freeflow Rebellion is where I share weekly myth-busting moments, stories behind my rule-breaking art, and gentle invitations to remember who you actually are underneath all the programming.Ready to question everything you never thought to question?

Hey Reader! I was staring at my laptop screen, that familiar tightness building in my chest. It had been almost two weeks since my last article. The cursor blinked accusingly. I had nothing. Or rather, I had a hundred half-formed ideas that all felt like work instead of play, obligation instead of desire. My brain offered helpful suggestions: "Just pick something and write it. You're losing momentum. People will forget about you. It's been too long." I know that voice intimately. It has been...

female cardinal

Hey Reader! For six days now, a female cardinal has been throwing herself at my windows. She picks one, slams into it over and over. I cover it up—she moves to the next. All day long. Thunk, thunk, thunk. Turns out, she’s not crazy. She thinks her reflection is another bird invading her space. She’s not hurting herself, but she’s spending all her energy fighting an enemy that doesn’t exist. And watching her, I thought, “Oh… I do this too.” For example, last week I canceled an early morning...

Hey Reader! There I was — sitting in a Zoom room with 147 people — listening to yet another person confidently describe their latest transcendent breakthrough using phrases like “background spaciousness” and “interpenetrating awareness.” Everyone else was nodding like they were agreeing the sky is blue. And I was ready to throw something. Why can’t I access these mind-blowing states everyone else seems to slip into so effortlessly? This was supposed to be an advanced course — the kind of thing...
